Sets of Disjoint Elements in Free Products of Lattice-ordered Groups
We show that for every infinite cardinal number m there exist two totally ordered abelian groups whose free product in any nontrivial variety of lattice-ordered groups has a disjoint set of cardinality m. This answers problem 10.7 of [13] and extends the results in [12]. We further prove that for the variety of abelian lattice-ordered groups or the variety of all lattice-ordered groups, the fre...
متن کاملMTL-algebras arising from partially ordered groups
After dropping the implication-like operation and reversing the order, an MTL-algebra becomes a partially ordered structure (L;≤,⊕, 0, 1) based on the single addition-like operation ⊕. Furthermore, ⊕ may be restricted to a partial, but cancellative addition + without loss of information. We deal in this paper with the case that the resulting partial algebra (L;≤,+, 0, 1) is embeddable into the ...
متن کاملLogic and Partially Ordered Abelian Groups
The unit interval in a partially ordered abelian group with order unit forms an interval effect algebra (IEA) and can be regarded as an algebraic model for the semantics of a formal deductive logic. There is a categorical equivalence between the category of IEA’s and the category of unigroups. In this article, we study the IEA-unigroup connection, focusing on the cases in which the IEA is a Boo...
متن کاملCompressions on Partially Ordered Abelian Groups
If A is a C*-algebra and p ∈ A is a self-adjoint idempotent, the mapping a 7→ pap is called a compression on A. We introduce effect-ordered rings as generalizations of unital C*-algebras and characterize compressions on these rings. The resulting characterization leads to a generalization of the notion of compression on partially ordered abelian groups with order units.
متن کاملFinitely presented partially ordered abelian groups
We study the partially-ordered abelian group, F (P; R), generated by a set of generators,P , and inequality relations, R, and its representations in Euclidean space. First F (P; R) is deened by a universal property and then existence is shown proof-theoretically. We then characterize the order structure of F (P; R). The rst main result of the paper utilizes the Marriage Theorem to prove that if...
